Computerized horoscope interpretation begins to take hold throughout
America. Para Research pioneers in the field with the use of powerful mainframe computers and the "Astral Portrait," the best computer
horoscope in the world (claimed by some to still hold that position in the 1990s).
The modernization of astrology begins. Astrology
starts to transform under the general pressure from changes occurring in the field of psychology. Carl Jung's philosophy, gestalt,
group and primal therapy, encounter sessions, retreats and workshops, all have an effect on astrology. Astrologers react by interpreting
chart factors in terms of behavioral influences. The old-fashioned terms "evil" aspects, "malefic" planets, "unfavorable" factors
begin to fade from astrological literature. More and more, astrologers refer to the new term "Humanistic Astrology" as invented by
Dane Rudhyar.
Aquarius Workshops is founded by Marion D. March and Joan McEvers, an astrology school centered in Los Angeles.

Computer interpretation and special astrology..
1980
In the 1980s, a new revolution begins to take place in astrology: computerized astrology. Many different companies turn out various
kinds of computerized charts and interpretations, usually advertised in the Dell Horoscope and American Astrology magazines. Many
of them also last only a few months to a few years. Raw computer language programs, such as BASIC, are also available for astrologers
to write astrological programs to suit their personal needs. Even more of a boost to astrology is the large variety of delineation
programs written for professional astrologers. The Age of the computer astrologer arrives.
Robert Hand lays the foundation for yet
a newer style of astrological writing: simpler coherent academic-like text which suits the new psychology-oriented form of astrology.
The recession of the early 1980s forces many astrological enterprises to shut down. Much of the 1970's hippie-initiated occult businesses
re-group under the movement of New Age. The emphasis turns away from cult-like lifestyles, magic, candles, charms, chalices, incense
and bead necklaces to organic foods, health, vegetarianism, herbal remedies, crystal energies, bio-feedback, nutritional and practical
astrology. The mantras, mandalas, and hermetic astro mumbo-jumbo begins to fade in the high-tech world.

The Internet
....
1990
In the 1990s, the revolution of computer
astrology continues to accelerate as almost all professional and serious astrologers take up computers to assist their work.
Five
computer astrology companies emerge as giants in the field:
Astrolabe Software, Matrix Software, Time Cycles, Cosmic Patterns, Air
Software
For the first time, anyone can download a wide assortment of astrology programs on the internet. One of the first popular
internet sites is Hilbert.Maths.Utas.edu.au. Soon after, astrologers are creating their own WEB (WWW) pages with graphics and actual
delineation programs working in real time at any time of the day, for free or a price.
Some of the most advertised high-quality (and
high-priced) computer programs in the mid 1990s are:
- Nova by Astrolabe
- Chartwheels III by Astrolabe
- Printwheels DTP by Astrolabe
- Solar
Fire by Astrolabe
- Jigsaw by Astrolabe
- Professional Natal Report by Astrolabe
- CCRS Horoscope Program by M. Pottenger
- ACS PC Mini-Atlas
- Blue
Star series from Matrix
- The Natal Report Writer from Matrix
- The Transit Report Writer from Matrix
- The Relating Potential Report from
Matrix
- Win Star from Matrix
- Star Trax 8000 from A.I.R.
At the lower end of the scale are:
- Astrology for Windows from Halloran
- Astroscopes
for Windows by Jeff Smith
- Astrologer's Assistant
- Astroworld
- Astro Toolkit
- Expert Astrologer
- Astrolog
- Astrol96
Another major change
in the astrological world is phone-astrology services, which number in the dozens, but which offer questionable delineations. Many
cheat by using public databases containing personal information gathered from credit card purchases.
Robert Hand serves as Chairman
on the board of directors of the NCGR (National Council for Geocosmic Research)
By the mid-1990s, hundreds of astrological organizations
exist all over the world, and continue to expand in quantity and quality:
